Educational Q&A

As a colophon, the verse does not teach through a maxim but signals a transition: it frames the coming narrative within a ritual setting (the snake-sacrifice), implicitly foregrounding questions of dharma—how intention, vengeance, and ritual action can shape consequences.

The text marks the completion of the twelfth chapter in the Pauloma section of the Ādi Parva, specifically the introductory portion to the Sarpasatra, preparing the reader for the larger events connected with the sacrificial assembly.
