आह्वानमन्त्रप्रयोगः — Kuntī’s Invocations and the Birth-Portents of the Pāṇḍavas
स चरन् दक्षिण पार्श्व॑ रम्यं हिमवतो गिरे: । उवास गिरिपृष्ठेषु महाशालवनेषु च,वे हिमालयके दक्षिण भागकी रमणीय भूमिमें विचरते हुए पर्वतके शिखरोंपर तथा ऊँचे शालवृक्षोंसे सुशोभित वनोंमें निवास करते थे
sa caran dakṣiṇa-pārśvaṁ ramyaṁ himavato gireḥ | uvāsa giri-pṛṣṭheṣu mahā-śāla-vaneṣu ca ||
Disse Vaiśampāyana: Vagueando pela bela encosta meridional do Himālaya, ele habitou nas cristas das montanhas e em florestas adornadas por altos sal (śāla). A passagem ressalta uma vida de contenção e simplicidade—buscar a solidão na natureza em vez do brilho mundano—sugerindo disciplina e firmeza interior.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights a disciplined, simple mode of life—dwelling in remote mountain ridges and forests—implying restraint, detachment from luxury, and steadiness of conduct (a supportive backdrop for dharmic living).
The narrator describes the person in question wandering along the beautiful southern side of the Himālaya and residing on mountain heights and in forests rich with tall śāla trees.
