अनुक्रमणिकाध्यायः (Anukramaṇikā Adhyāya) — Invocation, Narrator Frame, and Textual Scope
अनुज्ञातो5थ कृष्णस्तु ब्रह्मणा परमेषछ्ठिना । निषसादासनाभ्याशे प्रीयमाण: शुचिस्मित:,परमेष्ठी ब्रह्माजीकी आज्ञासे वे उनके आसनके पास ही बैठ गये। उस समय व्यासजीके हृदयमें आनन्दका समुद्र उमड़ रहा था और मुखपर मन्द-मन्द पवित्र मुसकान लहरा रही थी
anujñāto ’tha kṛṣṇas tu brahmaṇā parameṣṭhinā | niṣasādāsanābhyāśe prīyamāṇaḥ śucismitaḥ ||
Então Kṛṣṇa (Vyāsa), tendo recebido permissão de Brahmā, o Senhor supremo (Parameṣṭhin), sentou-se perto de seu assento. Por dentro, estava tomado de alegria, e um sorriso suave e puro brincava em seu rosto—sinal de reverência, compostura e harmonia da conduta correta diante de uma autoridade venerável.
The verse highlights dhārmic decorum: even a great figure acts with humility and restraint, waiting for permission from a higher authority and taking an appropriate seat. Ethical conduct is shown through reverence, self-control, and harmony with established order.
After being granted leave by Brahmā (called Parameṣṭhin), Kṛṣṇa sits down near Brahmā’s seat. The description of his serene, pure smile conveys respectful satisfaction and the calm atmosphere of a formal, sacred assembly.
