विमानप्रतिमां तत्र मयेन सुकृतां सभाम् | पाण्डवानामुपद्तां स दृष्टवा पर्यतप्यत,उस अवसरपर मयदानवने पाण्डवोंको एक सभाभवन भेंटमें दिया था, जिसकी रूपरेखा विमानके समान थी। वह भवन उसके शिल्पकौशलका एक अच्छा नमूना था। उसे देखकर दुर्योधनको और अधिक संताप हुआ
vimānapratimāṃ tatra mayena sukṛtāṃ sabhām | pāṇḍavānām upadattāṃ sa dṛṣṭvā paryatapyata ||
Ali, Maya havia construído um esplêndido salão de assembleia, moldado como um vimāna celeste, e o oferecera aos Pāṇḍava como dádiva. Quando Duryodhana viu aquele salão — prova eminente da arte de Maya — foi tomado por angústia ainda mais profunda, pois a inveja e o orgulho ferido se acirraram diante da fortuna crescente dos Pāṇḍava.
The verse highlights how envy (asūyā/īrṣyā) and wounded ego distort perception: another’s success becomes a source of inner burning rather than inspiration. Ethically, it warns that unchecked resentment can become the seed of larger wrongdoing and social rupture.
Maya, the Dānava famed for extraordinary craftsmanship, builds a magnificent assembly hall resembling a vimāna and gifts it to the Pāṇḍavas. Duryodhana sees this symbol of their prestige and feels intensified torment—an emotional escalation that contributes to later hostility.
