Suta Goswami
These names praise Shiva as Pati—the sovereign power behind the Linga—whose heroic protection and purifying force remove obstacles and inner bondage; chanting them is a stotra-aṅga that supports Linga-pūjā through nāma-smaraṇa.
It presents Shiva as Virāṭ (all-pervading cosmic reality) and Vettā (omniscient consciousness), who also manifests as fierce, protective power (tīvranāda, vīrabhṛt) to subdue adharmic forces and liberate the paśu from pāśa.
Nāma-japa of the Shiva Sahasranāma as an upāya in Pāśupata orientation—cultivating fearlessness, purification, and surrender to Pashupati alongside Linga-arcana.
