Suta Goswami (narrating Linga Purana teachings; internal source contextual)
It links outer observance (amāvāsyā-vrata, fasting, restraint) with inner readiness for Shiva-upāsanā, implying that disciplined tapas supports the devotee’s approach to the Linga as Pati (Lord) who loosens pāśa (bondage) for the paśu (soul).
By stating that the practitioner “rejoices with Bhavānī,” it points to Shiva-tattva as inseparable from Shakti—liberating grace and auspicious power operating together, not as isolated asceticism but as fulfilled divine union.
Amāvāsyā-based vrata with nirāhāra (fasting) and su-yantraṇa (strict self-control), reflecting a Pāśupata-style discipline aimed at purifying the paśu and weakening the pāśas through sustained tapas.
