Bhakti-māhātmya: The Marks of the Vaiṣṇava and the Liberating Power of Exclusive Devotion

This verse states that a true devotee is worthy of reverence like Hari himself; giving to such a person, accepting from him, or even remembering or greeting him is said to purify.
It presents devotion to the Lord as a primary purifier that can transcend social labels, emphasizing inner spiritual qualification over mere birth-status in matters of reverence.
Respect sincere devotion and good conduct, practice generous giving to the worthy, and cultivate uplifting associations—seeing spiritual character as more important than external identity.
