Prāṇeśvara Garuḍa-Mantra: Timing (Velā), Nāga-Grahas, Nyāsa, Haṃsa-Rite, and Viṣa-Cikitsā
Lord Vishnu (in instruction to Garuda/Vinata-putra)
Concept: Mantra combined with bodily technique (mudra + restraining breath pathways) can extract विष even from deeper tissues.
Vedantic Theme: Prana as an instrument under disciplined will (yoga-prana linkage) supporting sacred sound efficacy.
Application: Place Haṃsa-mudra in left hand; restrain nose and mouth openings; apply mantra to draw out venom from skin/flesh and deeper layers—performed with steadiness and focus.
Primary Rasa: bhayanaka
Secondary Rasa: vira
Related Themes: Garuda Purana 1.19.28 (breath/wind extraction and application); Garuda Purana 1.19.26 (aṅga-nyāsa of Haṃ-mantra)
This verse presents mantra-prayoga as a protective healing method, combining gesture (haṃsa) and controlled restraint of breath/openings to counteract viṣa (poison) in the body.
It does not directly discuss the soul’s post-death journey; instead, it focuses on preserving life through ritual-mantric means, which supports dharma by preventing untimely death.
Treat it as a scriptural description of traditional ritual healing; for real snakebite/poisoning, seek immediate medical care while using prayers/mantras as a supportive religious practice.
