FAQs

It lays down initiation protocol: the guru provides the yogapīṭha (ritual/yogic seat and requisites), formally teaches the samaya (disciplinary vows), and the disciple must preserve secrecy to gain full entitlement to the transmitted practice.

Beyond mythic narration, it codifies practical institutional knowledge—eligibility, transmission rules, vows, and confidentiality—showing the Agni Purana’s coverage of ritual procedure and guru–śiṣya governance alongside other sciences.

Proper eligibility, vows, and secrecy protect the sanctity of the practice; honoring samaya is treated as preserving sacred power (śakti) and merit, while breach of discipline is implied to obstruct attainment and spiritual benefit.
