tato dagdhvā jagat sarvaṃ rudrarūpī janārdanaḥ mukhaniśvāsajān meghān karoti munisattama
Sage Parāśara (teaching Maitreya)
Speaker: Parasara
Teaching: Cosmological
Quality: authoritative
Cosmic Hierarchy: Brahmanda (universe)
Concept: The Supreme Lord alone, by assuming Rudra-form, both consumes the cosmos and initiates the next phase of dissolution through His effortless will.
Vedantic Theme: Dharma
Application: Contemplate impermanence to reduce attachment and cultivate surrender to the divine order.
Vishishtadvaita: Vishnu remains the sovereign inner ruler who manifests functional forms (e.g., Rudra) while retaining supreme agency.
Vishnu Form: Hari
Jagat Karana: Yes
It shows that destruction (Rudra-function) is not independent; it operates as a mode of the Supreme Lord (Vishnu/Janardana) within cosmic order.
After the universe is consumed, Parāśara describes the next cosmological step: the Lord generates rain-bearing clouds from His breath, initiating the conditions for re-manifestation.
Vishnu is presented as the ultimate sovereign cause—able to assume the destructive aspect and also generate the restorative forces—affirming His supremacy over the full cycle of dissolution and re-creation.
