Sūrya-stava: Dhaumya’s Counsel and the Aṣṭaśata-nāma of Sūrya
एवं भानुमयं हान्न॑ भूतानां प्राणधारणम् | पितैष सर्वभूतानां तस्मात् तं शरणं व्रज,इस प्रकार सभी जीवोंके प्राणोंकी रक्षा करनेवाला अन्न सूर्यरूप ही है। अतः भगवान् सूर्य ही समस्त प्राणियोंके पिता हैं, इसलिये तुम उनन््हींकी शरणमें जाओ
evaṁ bhānumayam annaṁ bhūtānāṁ prāṇadhāraṇam | pitā eṣa sarvabhūtānāṁ tasmāt taṁ śaraṇaṁ vraja |
ਧੌਮ੍ਯ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ—ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਭ ਭੂਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਣਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਧਾਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਅੰਨ ਅਸਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੂਰਜ-ਸਵਰੂਪ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਭਗਵਾਨ ਸੂਰਜ ਹੀ ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦਾ ਪਿਤਾ ਹੈ; ਤਾਂ ਤੂੰ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਹੀ ਸ਼ਰਨ ਜਾ।
