यदि ह्ुकामां सेवेत स्त्रियमन्यामपि ध्रुवम् । शतधास्य फलेन्मूर्था इत्युक्त: सो5भवत् पुरा,पूर्वकालमें रावणको यह शाप दिया गया था कि यदि यह उसे न चाहनेवाली किसी परायी स्त्रीका बलपूर्वक सेवन करेगा तो इसके मस्तकके सैकड़ों टुकड़े हो जायँगे
yadi hy akāmaṃ seveta striyam anyām api dhruvam | śatadhāsyā phalen mūrdhā ity uktaḥ so 'bhavat purā ||
ਵਰੁਣ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ—ਜੇ ਉਹ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਨਾ ਚਾਹੁਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਕਿਸੇ ਪਰਾਈ ਇਸਤਰੀ—ਅਥਵਾ ਕਿਸੇ ਵੀ ਹੋਰ ਇਸਤਰੀ—ਉੱਤੇ ਜ਼ਬਰਦਸਤੀ ਕਰੇ, ਤਾਂ ਨਿਸ਼ਚਿਤ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਸਿਰ ਸੌ ਟੁਕੜਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਫਟ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ—ਇਹ ਸ਼ਾਪ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪੁਰਾਤਨ ਸਮੇਂ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ।
