Kaurava Court Hears of the Pāṇḍavas’ Forest Hardship (वैचित्रवीर्यवंशीयस्य राज्ञः करुणाविचारः)
अमावास्यां प्रवृत्तायां मुहुर्ते रौद्र एव तु । देवासुरं च संग्रामं सो5पश्यदुदये गिरो,अमावस्या आरम्भ हो गयी थी। उस रौद्र (भयंकर) मुहूर्तमें ही उदयगिरिके शिखरपर उन्हें देवासुर-संग्रामका लक्षण दिखायी दिया
amāvāsyāṁ pravṛttāyāṁ muhūrte raudra eva tu | devāsuraṁ ca saṅgrāmaṁ so 'paśyad udaye gireḥ ||
ਅਮਾਵਸਿਆ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਹੋਣ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ, ਉਸੇ ਭਿਆਨਕ ਮੁਹੂਰਤ ਵਿੱਚ, ਉਸ ਨੇ ਉਦਯ ਪਹਾੜ ਦੀ ਚੋਟੀ ਉੱਤੇ ਦੇਵਾਂ ਤੇ ਅਸੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਯੁੱਧ ਦਾ ਅਸ਼ੁਭ ਲੱਛਣ ਵੇਖਿਆ।
