स मत्स्यवचन श्रुत्वा कृपयाभिपरिप्लुत: । मनुर्वैवस्वतो<गृह्नात् तं मत्स्यं पाणिना स्वयम्
sa matsyavacanaṃ śrutvā kṛpayābhipariplutaḥ | manur vaivasvato gṛhṇāt taṃ matsyaṃ pāṇinā svayam ||
ਮੱਛੀ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਵੈਵਸਵਤ ਮਨੂ ਦਇਆ ਨਾਲ ਭਰ ਆਇਆ। ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੀ ਹੱਥ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਮੱਛੀ ਨੂੰ ਚੁੱਕ ਲਿਆ।
मार्कण्डेय उवाच
Compassion (kṛpā) is presented as a dharmic impulse: the righteous respond personally to a plea for protection, even when the petitioner seems small or insignificant.
After hearing the fish speak, Manu is moved by pity and physically takes the fish into his care, initiating the well-known sequence in which the fish is protected and later reveals a larger purpose.
