Udyoga Parva, Chapter 81: Krishna Sets Out as Envoy
पज्च नस्तात दीयमन्तां ग्रामा इति महाद्युते । अविस्थलं वृकस्थलं माकन्दीं वारणावतम्
pañca nas tāta dīyamantāṁ grāmā iti mahādyute | avisthalaṁ vṛkasthalaṁ mākandīṁ vāraṇāvatam ||
ਵੈਸ਼ੰਪਾਯਨ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ— ਹੇ ਮਹਾਦ੍ਯੁਤੀ! ‘ਤਾਤ, ਸਾਨੂੰ ਪੰਜ ਪਿੰਡ ਦੇ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਜਾਣ’—ਇਹ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਸੀ। ਉਹ ਪਿੰਡ ਸਨ—ਅਵਿਸਥਲ, ਵ੍ਰਿਕਸਥਲ, ਮਾਕੰਦੀ ਅਤੇ ਵਾਰਣਾਵਤ।
