Sanatsujāta on Vedic Learning, Truth (Satya), and the Discipline of Dama–Tyāga–Apramāda
शिष्यवृत्तिक्रमेणैव विद्यामाप्रोति यः शुचि: । ब्रह्मचर्यव्रतस्यास्य प्रथम: पाद उच्यते
śiṣyavṛttikrameṇaiva vidyām āpnoti yaḥ śuciḥ | brahmacaryavratasya asya prathamaḥ pāda ucyate ||
ਜੋ ਸ਼ੁੱਧ-ਚਿੱਤ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸ਼ਿਸ਼੍ਯ-ਵ੍ਰਿੱਤੀ ਦੇ ਕ੍ਰਮ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਆਚਰਨ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਵਿਦਿਆ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ—ਇਹੀ ਇਸ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਚਰਿਆ-ਵ੍ਰਤ ਦਾ ਪਹਿਲਾ ਪਦ ਕਿਹਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।
