कामार्थलाभेन तथैव भूयो न तृप्यते सर्पिषेवाग्निरिद्ध: । विषयोंका चिन्तन अपने शरीरको पीड़ा देता है। जो विषय-चिन्तनसे सर्वथा मुक्त है
kāmārthalābhena tathaiva bhūyo na tṛpyate sarpiṣevāgniriddhaḥ |
ਸੰਜਯ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ—ਕਾਮਨਾ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ ਵਸਤਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਧਨ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਣ ‘ਤੇ ਵੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ; ਜਿਵੇਂ ਘਿਉ ਪਾਉਣ ਨਾਲ ਭੜਕਦੀ ਅੱਗ ਹੋਰ ਭੜਕ ਉਠਦੀ ਹੈ, ਤਿਵੇਂ ਵਿਸ਼ਯ-ਭੋਗ ਅਤੇ ਧਨ-ਲਾਭ ਨਾਲ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਹੋਰ ਵਧਦੀ ਹੈ, ਸ਼ਾਂਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ।
