Śikhaṇḍinī’s Marriage Arrangement and the Daśārṇa Envoy’s Accusation (शिखण्डिनी-विवाह-विप्रलम्भ-प्रसङ्गः)
दैवं हि मानुषोपेतं भृशं सिद्धयति पार्थिव | परस्परविरोधाद्धि सिद्धिरस्ति न चैतयो:
daivaṁ hi mānuṣopetaṁ bhṛśaṁ siddhayati pārthiva | parasparavirodhād dhi siddhir asti na caitayoḥ ||
ਭੀਸ਼ਮ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ—ਹੇ ਭੂਪਾਲ! ਜਦੋਂ ਮਨੁੱਖੀ ਉਪਰਾਲਾ ਨਾਲ ਹੋਵੇ ਤਦੋਂ ਹੀ ਦੈਵ ਬਹੁਤ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵਸ਼ਾਲੀ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਸਫਲਤਾ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ; ਪਰ ਜੇ ਦੈਵ ਅਤੇ ਪੁਰਸ਼ਾਰਥ ਆਪਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਰੋਧੀ ਹੋਣ, ਤਾਂ ਦੋਹਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੀ ਵੀ ਸਿੱਧੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ।
