Ambā Seeks Refuge with Rāma Jāmadagnya
rāma uvāca | yathā tvaṃ sṛñjayasyāsya tathā me tvaṃ nṛpātmaje | brūhi yat te manoduḥkhaṃ kariṣye vacanaṃ tava ||
The verse highlights dharmic responsibility expressed through kinship and protection: the speaker accepts the princess as his own and commits to relieving her inner sorrow by acting on her request, emphasizing compassionate guardianship and keeping one’s word.
Paraśurāma addresses a princess, affirming a familial bond with her (as with Sṛñjaya’s line) and invites her to disclose her distress, promising to carry out whatever she asks.
