भीष्मस्य दुर्योधनं प्रति कुलहितोपदेशः | Bhīṣma’s Counsel to Duryodhana on Dynastic Welfare
'शत्रुसूदन! तुमने अपने चार भाइयोंको अभयदान दिया है। युद्धमें उन्हें छोड़ देनेकी प्रतिज्ञापर दृढ़ रहना ।।
śatrusūdana! tvayā svacaturbhrātṝṇām abhayadānaṃ dattam. yuddhe tān parityaktum iti pratijñāyāṃ dṛḍho bhava. anāmayaṃ svasti ceti pṛthāto karṇam atravīt. tāṃ karṇo 'tha tathety uktvā tatas tau jagmatuḥ pṛthak.
ਕਰਨ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ—“ਹੇ ਸ਼ਤਰੁਸੂਦਨ! ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਚਾਰ ਭਰਾਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਅਭਯ ਦਾਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ; ਇਸ ਲਈ ਯੁੱਧ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਦੇਣ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਗਿਆ ਉੱਤੇ ਦ੍ਰਿੜ੍ਹ ਰਹਿ।” ਫਿਰ ਪૃਥਾ (ਕੁੰਤੀ) ਨੇ ਕਰਨ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ—“ਤੇਰਾ ਕਲਿਆਣ ਹੋਵੇ; ਤੈਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਰੋਗ-ਕਲੇਸ਼ ਨਾ ਆਵੇ।” ਕਰਨ ਨੇ “ਤਥਾਸਤੁ” ਕਹਿ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਮੰਨ ਲਈ; ਅਤੇ ਫਿਰ ਦੋਵੇਂ ਆਪਣੇ-ਆਪਣੇ ਥਾਂ ਵੱਲ ਵੱਖ ਵੱਖ ਚਲੇ ਗਏ।
