Crisis Composure) and ‘Jaya’ Śravaṇa (Morale-Instruction
निदर्शनान्युपायांश्व बहुन्युद्धर्षणानि च । अनुदर्शितरूपोडसि पश्यामि कुरु पौरुषम्
nidārśanāny upāyāṁś ca bahūny uddharṣaṇāni ca | anudarśita-rūpo ’si paśyāmi kuru pauruṣam ||
ਪੁੱਤਰ! ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟਾਂਤ, ਬਹੁਤੇ ਉਪਾਅ ਅਤੇ ਹੌਸਲਾ ਜਗਾਉਣ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ ਕਈ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਸੁਣਾਈਆਂ ਹਨ। ਲੋਕ-ਵਿਹਾਰ ਦੇ ਢੰਗ ਵੀ ਮੈਂ ਵਾਰ ਵਾਰ ਦਿਖਾਏ ਹਨ। ਹੁਣ ਤੂੰ ਪੌਰੁਸ਼ ਕਰ—ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਪਰਾਕ੍ਰਮ ਵੇਖਾਂਗੀ।
पुत्र उवाच
Instruction must culminate in action: after receiving examples, strategies, and repeated guidance about worldly realities, one should undertake courageous, responsible effort (pauruṣa) rather than remain passive.
A parent/elder (the speaker) addresses her son, reminding him that she has already offered many illustrations, practical counsels, and motivating words; now she urges him to act with valor so she may witness his prowess.
