Vāmadeva’s Rājadharma: Norm-Setting, Counsel, and the Prevention of Rāṣṭra-Vināśa (वामदेव-प्रोक्तं राजधर्मम्)
अग्राम्यचरितां वृत्ति यो न सेवेत नित्यदा | जितानामजितानां च क्षत्रधर्मादपैति सः
agrāmyacaritāṁ vṛttiṁ yo na seveta nityadā | jitānām ajitānāṁ ca kṣatradharmād apaiti saḥ ||
ਜੋ ਸਦਾ ਸ਼ਿਸ਼ਟ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਅਪਣਾਈ ਹੋਈ, ਅਸ਼ਲੀਲਤਾ-ਰਹਿਤ (ਅਗ੍ਰਾਮ੍ਯ) ਚਾਲ-ਚਲਨ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਨਿਭਾਂਦਾ, ਅਤੇ ਜਿੱਤੇ ਹੋਏ ਤੇ ਨਾ ਜਿੱਤੇ ਹੋਏ—ਦੋਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਰੰਪਰਾਗਤ ਆਚਾਰ ਦੀ ਪਾਲਣਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਨ ਦਿੰਦਾ—ਉਹ ਖ਼ਸ਼ਤਰੀ ਧਰਮ ਤੋਂ ਡਿੱਗ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
