Chapter 78: Royal Responsibility for Wealth, Social Order, and the Protection of Dvijas
Kekaya Exemplum
विकर्मस्थाश्ष नोपेक्ष्या विप्रा राज्ञा कथठ्चन । इति राज्ञां पुरावृत्तमभिजल्पन्ति साधव:
Bhīṣma uvāca: vikarmasthāś ca noprekṣyā viprā rājñā kathaṃcana | iti rājñāṃ purāvṛttam abhijalpanti sādhavaḥ ||
ਭੀਸ਼ਮ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ—ਜੋ ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣ ਆਪਣੇ ਵਰਣ-ਧਰਮ ਦੇ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੱਗ ਜਾਣ, ਰਾਜੇ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਸੇ ਵੀ ਹਾਲਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਦੇ ਵੀ ਅਣਡਿੱਠਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ। ਧਰਮੀ ਲੋਕ ਕਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਰਾਜਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਚੀਨ, ਸਮੇਂ ਤੋਂ ਚੱਲੀ ਆ ਰਹੀ ਰੀਤ ਹੈ।
