शुश्रूषां सततं कुर्वन्‌ गुरो: सम्प्रणमेत च । षट्कर्मसु निवृत्तश्न न प्रवृत्तश्न सर्वश:

Transliteration

śuśrūṣāṃ satataṃ kurvan guroḥ saṃpraṇameta ca | ṣaṭkarmasu nivṛttaś ca na pravṛttaś ca sarvaśaḥ ||

Translation

ਭੀਸ਼ਮ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ—ਉਹ ਨਿਰੰਤਰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰੇ ਅਤੇ ਯਥੋਚਿਤ ਆਦਰ ਨਾਲ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਣਾਮ ਕਰੇ। ਜੀਵਿਕਾ ਲਈ ਮੰਨੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਛੇ ਕਰਮ—ਯਜਨ-ਯਾਜਨ, ਅਧਿਐਨ-ਅਧਿਆਪਨ, ਦਾਨ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਗ੍ਰਹ—ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਉਹ ਦੂਰ ਰਹੇ; ਅਤੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਵੀ ਤਰੀਕੇ ਨਾਲ ਅਧਰਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਵਿਰਤ ਨਾ ਹੋਵੇ।
