न हि नो भ्रूणहा कश्चिज्जातापद्यनूृतोडपि वा | पूर्वाशी वा कुले हास्मिन् देवतातिथिबन्धुषु
na hi no bhrūṇahā kaścid jātāpatyanṛto 'pi vā | pūrvāśī vā kule 'smin devatātithibandhuṣu ||
ਭੀਸ਼ਮ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ—ਸਾਡੇ ਇਸ ਕੁਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਾ ਕੋਈ ਭ੍ਰੂਣ-ਹੰਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ, ਨਾ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੀ ਸੰਤਾਨ ਜਨਮ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਮਰ ਗਈ ਹੋਵੇ; ਨਾ ਕੋਈ ਝੂਠ ਬੋਲਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ; ਅਤੇ ਨਾ ਕੋਈ ਐਸਾ ਜੋ ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ, ਅਤਿਥੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਬੰਧੂਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਅੰਨ ਅਰਪਣ ਕੀਤੇ ਬਿਨਾਂ ਆਪ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਭੋਜਨ ਕਰ ਲਵੇ।
