नारद उवाच
This line is a colophon rather than a doctrinal verse: it signals the completion of a chapter within the Mokṣa-dharma teachings, framed in the Nārāyaṇīya, thereby emphasizing the text’s liberation-oriented dharma and its devotional-philosophical focus on Nārāyaṇa.
No new narrative action occurs here. The text formally closes a chapter by naming the larger work (Mahābhārata), the book (Śānti Parva), the subsection (Mokṣa-dharma), and the thematic unit (Nārāyaṇīya), and by stating the chapter number.
