धर्मस्य बहुद्वारत्वम् — Nārada’s Audience with Indra (Śānti-parva 340)
सिद्धा हि ते महाभागा नरा होकान्तिनो5भवन् । तमोरजो भ्यां निर्मुक्ता: प्रवेक्ष्यन्ति च मां मुने
siddhā hi te mahābhāgā narā haikāntino ’bhavan | tamorajo-bhyāṁ nirmuktāḥ pravekṣyanti ca māṁ mune ||
ਹੇ ਮੁਨੀ! ਉਹ ਮਹਾਭਾਗ ਪੁਰਖ ਨਿਸਚਿਤ ਹੀ ਸਿੱਧ ਹਨ; ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਉਹ ਮੇਰੇ ਅਨਨ੍ਯ ਭਗਤ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ। ਤਮੋ-ਗੁਣ ਅਤੇ ਰਜੋ-ਗੁਣ ਤੋਂ ਮੁਕਤ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਮੇਰੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਪ੍ਰਵੇਸ਼ ਕਰਨਗੇ।
भीष्म उवाच
Liberation is portrayed as the fruit of exclusive devotion and inner purification: when one is freed from tamas (ignorant inertia) and rajas (restless passion), one becomes fit to ‘enter’ the Divine—i.e., attain union/absorption in the Supreme.
Bhishma, instructing a sage, describes a class of perfected devotees who were formerly single-minded worshippers. Having transcended the binding guṇas of tamas and rajas, they are destined to enter into the Divine presence/being.
