अध्याय ३३७ — ज्ञानमार्ग-वैविध्यप्रश्नः तथा व्यासस्य नारायणोद्भवकथा
Systems of Knowledge and Vyāsa’s Nārāyaṇa-Origin
सम्भूता: सर्वसम्भारास्तस्मिन् राजन् महाक्रतौ । न तत्र पशुघातो5भूत् स राजैवं स्थितो5भवत्
sambhūtāḥ sarva-sambhārās tasmin rājan mahā-kratau | na tatra paśu-ghāto 'bhūt sa rājā evaṃ sthito 'bhavat ||
ਭੀਸ਼ਮ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ—ਹੇ ਰਾਜਨ, ਉਸ ਮਹਾਕ੍ਰਤੂ ਵਿੱਚ ਯੱਗ ਦੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਸਮੱਗਰੀ ਪੂਰੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਇਕੱਠੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਸੀ; ਪਰ ਉੱਥੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਪਸ਼ੂ ਦਾ ਵਧ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਇਆ। ਅਹਿੰਸਾ ਅਤੇ ਧਰਮ-ਸੰਮਤ ਯੱਗ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਕਾਇਮ ਰੱਖਣ ਦੇ ਇਸੇ ਅਭਿਪ੍ਰਾਯ ਨਾਲ ਰਾਜਾ ਉਪਰਿਚਰ ਉਸ ਯੱਗ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਡੋਲ ਰਿਹਾ।
