Śānti-parva Adhyāya 30: Nārada–Parvata Samaya-bhaṅga, Śāpa, and the Marriage of Sukumārī
स तद् वाक्यं तु विज्ञाय नारद: पर्वतं तथा
sa tad vākyaṃ tu vijñāya nāradaḥ parvataṃ tathā | yukto 'pi nityadharmajña na vai svargam avāpsyasi ||
ਉਹ ਬਚਨ ਸਮਝ ਕੇ ਨਾਰਦ ਕ੍ਰੋਧਿਤ ਹੋਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਭਾਣਜੇ ਪਰਵਤ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਾਪ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਕਿਹਾ—“ਹੇ ਪਰਵਤ! ਤੂੰ ਤਪੱਸਿਆ, ਬ੍ਰਹਮਚਰਜ, ਸੱਚਾਈ ਅਤੇ ਇੰਦ੍ਰੀ-ਸੰਯਮ ਨਾਲ ਯੁਕਤ ਅਤੇ ਨਿੱਤ ਧਰਮ-ਪਰਾਇਣ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਵੀ ਸਵਰਗ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰੇਂਗਾ।”
