Adhyāya 284: Tapas as a Corrective to Household Attachment

सदा चारक्षप्रियो धूर्तो गणाध्यक्षो गणाधिप: । रक्तमाल्याम्बरधरो गिरिशो गिरिकप्रिय:

Transliteration

sadā cārākṣapriyo dhūrto gaṇādhyakṣo gaṇādhipaḥ | raktamālyāmbaradharo giriśo girikpriyaḥ ||

Translation

ਭੀਸ਼ਮ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ— ਤੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਅੱਖ-ਪ੍ਰਿਯ (ਪਾਸਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰੇਮੀ), ਧੂਰਤ, ਗਣਾਧ੍ਯਕਸ਼ ਅਤੇ ਗਣਾਧਿਪ ਨਾਮਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰਸਿੱਧ ਹੈਂ। ਤੂੰ ਲਾਲ ਵਸਤ੍ਰ ਅਤੇ ਲਾਲ ਫੁੱਲਾਂ ਦੀ ਮਾਲਾ ਧਾਰਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ; ਤੂੰ ਗਿਰੀਸ਼—ਪਹਾੜਾਂ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਹੈਂ, ਅਤੇ ਪਹਾੜ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਿਯ ਹਨ।
