The verse functions as a formal closure: Bhīṣma signals that the instructive narrative—using the Vṛtra episode as a frame—has been fully explained. Ethically, it models disciplined teaching: speak comprehensively when needed, then stop rather than embellish beyond purpose.
Bhīṣma concludes a detailed account about the rise/manifestation of the great Māheśvara Jvara, introduced in connection with the Vṛtra episode, and tells the listener (addressed as ‘son’) that nothing further remains to be added.
