अध्याय २८१ — दानधर्मः, न्यायागतधनम्, ऋणत्रय-परिशोधनं च
Dāna ethics, lawful wealth, and settling obligations
अग्निरुवाच मम मोक्षस्य कोडच्तो वै ब्रह्मन् ध्यायस्व वै प्रभो । एतदिच्छामि विज्ञातुं तत्तवतो लोकपूजित
agnir uvāca mama mokṣasya ko ’ntaḥ vai brahman dhyāyasva vai prabho | etad icchāmi vijñātuṁ tattvato lokapūjita ||
ਅਗਨੀ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ— ਹੇ ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣ, ਹੇ ਪੂਜਣਯ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ, ਮੇਰੀ ਮੁਕਤੀ ਦੀ ਸੱਚੀ ਹੱਦ—ਅੰਤਿਮ ਮਿਆਦ—ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕੇ ਨਿਰਧਾਰਤ ਕਰੋ। ਲੋਕਾਂ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਸਨਮਾਨਿਤ ਪਿਤਾਮਹ! ਬ੍ਰਹਮਹਤਿਆ ਦੇ ਇਸ ਦਾਗ ਤੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਕਦੋਂ ਅਤੇ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਮੁਕਤ ਹੋਵਾਂਗਾ, ਇਹ ਮੈਂ ਠੀਕ-ਠੀਕ ਜਾਣਨਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
