अध्याय २८१ — दानधर्मः, न्यायागतधनम्, ऋणत्रय-परिशोधनं च
Dāna ethics, lawful wealth, and settling obligations
ब्रह्मवध्या महाघोरा रौद्रा लोकभयावहा । करालदशना भीमा विकृता कृष्णपिड्ूला
brahmavadhyā mahāghorā raudrā lokabhayāvahā | karāladāśanā bhīmā vikṛtā kṛṣṇapiṇḍūlā ||
ਭੀਸ਼ਮ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ— ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣ-ਵਧ ਦਾ ਪਾਪ ਅਤਿ ਘੋਰ ਹੈ—ਰੌਦ੍ਰ, ਭਿਆਨਕ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਡਰ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ। ਉਹ ਵਿਕਰਾਲ ਦੰਦਾਂ ਵਾਲੀ, ਭੀਮਾਕਾਰ, ਵਿਕ੍ਰਿਤ ਦੇਹਧਾਰিণੀ; ਕਾਲੇ ਰੰਗ ਦੀ ਅਤੇ ਸੁੱਜੀ ਹੋਈ-ਸੀ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਤ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ—ਜਿਵੇਂ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਨੂੰ ਹਾਨੀ ਪਹੁੰਚੇ ਤਾਂ ਧਰਮ-ਭੰਗ ਕਿੰਨਾ ਭਾਰੀ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਇਸ ਦੀ ਚੇਤਾਵਨੀ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਮੂਰਤ।
