यज्ञेऽहिंसा-प्राधान्यम्
Primacy of Non-Harm in Sacrificial Ethics
स्वस्ति गोभ्यो<स्तु लोकेषु ततो निर्वचनं कृतम् । हिंसायां हि प्रवृत्तायामाशीरेषा तु कल्पिता
svasti gobhyo 'stu lokeṣu tato nirvacanaṃ kṛtam | hiṃsāyāṃ hi pravṛttāyām āśīr eṣā tu kalpitā |
“ਸਭ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਗਾਂਵਾਂ ਦਾ ਕਲਿਆਣ ਹੋਵੇ”—ਇਹ ਕਹਿ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਘੋਸ਼ਣਾ ਕੀਤੀ; ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਜਦੋਂ ਹਿੰਸਾ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਹੋਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਸੀ, ਤਦ ਗੋ-ਹਿਤ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਵਾ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਹਾਨਿਕਾਰਕ ਕਰਮ ਨੂੰ ਰੋਕਣ ਲਈ ਇਹ ਆਸ਼ੀਰਵਚਨ ਰਚਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ।
