प्रजापतयः देवगणाश्च दिशि-दिशि स्थिताः ऋषयः

प्रजापति श्रेष्ठतमं प्रजानां देवर्षिसंघप्रवरो महर्षि: । बृहस्पति: प्रश्नमिमं पुराणं पप्रच्छ शिष्यो5थ गुरुं प्रणम्य

Transliteration

bhīṣma uvāca | prajāpatiśreṣṭhatamaṃ prajānāṃ devarṣisaṅghapravaro maharṣiḥ | bṛhaspatiḥ praśnam imaṃ purāṇaṃ papraccha śiṣyo 'tha guruṃ praṇamya ||

Translation

ਭੀਸ਼ਮ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ— ਇੱਕ ਵਾਰ ਦੇਵਰਿਸ਼ੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਮਹਾਸਭਾ ਵਿੱਚ, ਦੇਵਰਿਸ਼ੀ-ਸੰਘ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਗੇਵਾਨ ਮਹਾਰਿਸ਼ੀ ਬ੍ਰਿਹਸਪਤੀ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਜਾਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਸ਼੍ਰੇਸ਼ਠ ਪ੍ਰਜਾਪਤੀ ਮਨੂ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਿਸ਼੍ਯ-ਭਾਵ ਨਾਲ ਨਮਸਕਾਰ ਕਰਕੇ ਇਹ ਪ੍ਰਾਚੀਨ ਪ੍ਰਸ਼ਨ ਪੁੱਛਿਆ।
