न तृप्ति: प्रियलाभे<स्ति तृष्णा नाद्धि: प्रशाम्यति । सम्प्रज्वलति सा भूय: समिद्धिरिव पावक:
na tṛptiḥ priyalābhe 'sti tṛṣṇā nāddhiḥ praśāmyati | samprajvalati sā bhūyaḥ samiddhir iva pāvakaḥ ||
ਭੀਸ਼ਮ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ—ਪਿਆਰੀਆਂ ਵਸਤਾਂ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਣ ਨਾਲ ਵੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ; ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਮੁੱਕਦੀ। ਜਿਵੇਂ ਈਂਧਨ ਪਾ ਕੇ ਅੱਗ ਹੋਰ ਭੜਕ ਉਠਦੀ ਹੈ, ਤਿਵੇਂ ਇਹ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ ਹੋਰ ਤੇਜ਼ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
