शकुनि (हिरण्मय-पक्षी) उपदेशः — Vighasāśin and the Difficulty of Gārhasthya
धर्मोडयमिति मन्वाना: समृद्धा ब्रह्मचारिण: । त्यक्त्वा भ्रातृन् पितृश्चैव तानिन्द्रोडन्वकृपायत
dharma udayam iti manvānāḥ samṛddhā brahmacāriṇaḥ | tyaktvā bhrātṝn pitṝṃś caiva tān indro ’nvakṛpāyata ||
ਇਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਧਰਮ ਦਾ ਸਾਰ ਸਮਝ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਸਮ੍ਰਿੱਧ ਨੌਜਵਾਨ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਚਰਯ ਦਾ ਕਠੋਰ ਅਨੁਸ਼ਾਸਨ ਨਿਭਾਉਣ ਲੱਗੇ। ਭਰਾਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਅਤੇ ਮਾਤਾ-ਪਿਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਤਿਆਗ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਜੰਗਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਾ ਵੱਸੇ। ਇੱਕ ਦਿਨ ਇੰਦਰ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਦਇਆ ਕੀਤੀ।
