शृणु राजन् स्थिरो भूत्वा संग्रामं शंसतो मम । संजयने कहा--राजन्! जहाँ हाथी, घोड़े और मनुष्योंके शरीरोंका महान् संहार हुआ था, उस संग्रामका मैं वर्णन करता हूँ; आप सुस्थिर होकर सुनिये
śṛṇu rājan sthiro bhūtvā saṅgrāmaṃ śaṃsato mama |
ਸੰਜਯ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ—ਹੇ ਰਾਜਨ, ਧੀਰਜ ਨਾਲ ਅਡੋਲ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਸੁਣੋ। ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਯੁੱਧ ਦਾ ਵਰਣਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਹਾਥੀਆਂ, ਘੋੜਿਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਹਾਂ ਸੰਹਾਰ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ; ਤੁਸੀਂ ਸੰਯਮ ਨਾਲ ਮੇਰੀ ਕਥਾ ਸੁਣੋ।
