दग्धा: सहस्रशो दैत्या नादै: स्कन्दस्य चापरे | पताकयावधूताश्न हता: केचित् सुरद्विष:
Vaiśampāyana uvāca | dagdhāḥ sahasraśo daityā nādaiḥ skandasya cāpare | patākayā vadhūtāś ca hatāḥ kecit suradviṣaḥ ||
ਉਸ ਸ਼ਕਤੀ-ਅਸਤ੍ਰ ਦੀ ਅੱਗ ਨਾਲ ਹਜ਼ਾਰਾਂ ਦੈਤ ਸੜ ਕੇ ਭਸਮ ਹੋ ਗਏ। ਕਈ ਸਕੰਦ ਦੇ ਸਿੰਹਨਾਦ ਮਾਤਰ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਣ ਤਿਆਗ ਬੈਠੇ, ਅਤੇ ਕੁਝ ਦੇਵ-ਦੁਸ਼ਮਣ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਧਵਜ ਦੇ ਝਟਕੇ ਨਾਲ ਕੰਬ ਕੇ ਮਾਰੇ ਗਏ।
