Vaiśampāyana uvāca | śṛṇu mātṛgaṇān rājan kumārānucarān imān | kīrtyamānān mayā vīra sapatnagaṇasūdanān ||
ਵੈਸ਼ੰਪਾਯਨ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ—ਹੇ ਵੀਰ ਨਰੇਸ਼! ਸੁਣੋ; ਮੈਂ ਕੁਮਾਰ (ਸਕੰਦ/ਕਾਰਤਿਕੇਯ) ਦੀਆਂ ਅਨੁਚਰੀਆਂ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਾਤ੍ਰਿਕਾਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਉਚਾਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਮੈਂ ਵਰਣਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਉਹ ਵੈਰੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਟੋਲਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਹਾਰਣ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ ਹਨ।
