शल्यस्य पाण्डवसेनापीडनम् — Śalya’s Assault on the Pāṇḍava Host
with Omens and Bhīma’s Counter
इस प्रकार श्रीमह्याभारत शल्यपर्वमें संकुलयुद्धविषयक नवाँ अध्याय पूरा हुआ
samārcchac citrasenaṃ tu nakulo yuddha-durmadaḥ | tau parasparam āsādya citra-kārmuka-dhāriṇau ||
ਸੰਜਯ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ—ਉਸੇ ਵੇਲੇ ਯੁੱਧ ਦੇ ਜੋਸ਼ ਨਾਲ ਮੱਤਾ ਨਕੁਲ ਕਰਣ-ਪੁੱਤਰ ਚਿਤ੍ਰਸੇਨ ਉੱਤੇ ਟੁੱਟ ਪਿਆ। ਅਦਭੁਤ ਧਨੁੱਖ ਧਾਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਉਹ ਦੋਵੇਂ ਸੂਰਮੇ ਆਮਨੇ-ਸਾਮਨੇ ਭਿੜ ਕੇ, ਦੱਖਣ ਅਤੇ ਉੱਤਰ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਆਏ ਦੋ ਵੱਡੇ ਵਰਖਾ-ਮੇਘਾਂ ਵਾਂਗ ਇਕ-ਦੂਜੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਤੀਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਵਰਖਾ ਕਰਨ ਲੱਗੇ।
