कृष्ण उवाच योडसौ त्वया खाण्डवे चित्रभानु संतर्पयाणेन धनुर्धरेण । वियद्गतो जननीगुप्तदेहो मत्वैकरूपं निहतास्य माता
kṛṣṇa uvāca yo 'sau tvayā khāṇḍave citrabhānuḥ saṃtarpayānena dhanurdhareṇa | viyadgato jananīguptadeho matvaikarūpaṃ nihatāsya mātā ||
ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ—“ਧਨੁਰਧਰ! ਖਾਂਡਵ ਵਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਿਸ ਚਿਤ੍ਰਭਾਨੁ (ਅਗਨੀ) ਨੂੰ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਬਾਣਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ, ਉਹੀ ਬਾਅਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਕਾਸ਼ ਨੂੰ ਚੜ੍ਹ ਗਿਆ; ਉਸ ਦਾ ਦੇਹ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਮਾਤਾ ਨੇ ਗੁਪਤ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਸੀ। ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਇੱਕੋ ਹੀ ਰੂਪ ਦਾ ਸਮਝ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਮਾਤਾ ਮਾਰੀ ਗਈ।”
