विना किरीटं शुशुभे स पार्थ: श्यामो युवा नील इवोच्चशूड्र: । ततः समुद्ग्रथ्य सितेन वाससा स्वमूर्थजानव्यथितस्तदार्जुन: | विभासित: सूर्यमरीचिना दृढं शिरोगतेनोदयपर्वतो यथा

Transliteration

vinā kirīṭaṁ śuśubhe sa pārthaḥ śyāmo yuvā nīla ivoccacūḍraḥ | tataḥ samudgrathya sitena vāsasā svamūrdhajān vyathitas tadārjunaḥ | vibhāsitaḥ sūryamarīcinā dṛḍhaṁ śirogatenodayaparvato yathā ||

Translation

ਸੰਜਯ ਬੋਲੇ—ਮੁਕੁਟ ਤੋਂ ਵੰਝਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਵੀ ਉਹ ਸ਼ਿਆਮ ਵਰਣ ਦਾ ਨੌਜਵਾਨ ਪਾਰਥ ਉੱਚੇ ਨੀਲੇ-ਸ਼ਿਖਰ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਹਾੜ ਵਾਂਗ ਚਮਕਣ ਲੱਗਾ। ਫਿਰ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਿਰ ਦੇ ਗਹਿਣੇ ਦੇ ਵਿਛੋੜੇ ਨਾਲ ਦੁਖੀ ਅਰਜੁਨ ਨੇ ਚਿੱਟੇ ਕਪੜੇ ਨਾਲ ਕੇਸ ਬੰਨ੍ਹ ਲਏ ਅਤੇ ਯੁੱਧ ਲਈ ਅਡੋਲ ਖੜਾ ਰਿਹਾ। ਸਿਰ ਉੱਤੇ ਪੈਂਦੀਆਂ ਸੂਰਜ ਦੀਆਂ ਕਿਰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਉਹ ਠਹਿਰੇ ਹੋਏ ਤੇਜ ਨਾਲ ਦਮਕਿਆ—ਜਿਵੇਂ ਸਵੇਰੇ ਉਦਯ ਪਹਾੜ ਦੀ ਚੋਟੀ ਰੌਸ਼ਨੀ ਫੜ ਲੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
