अजुन उवाच संशप्तकैर्युध्यमानस्य मेडद्य सेनाग्रयायी कुरुसैन्येषु राजन । आशीविषाभान् खगमान् प्रमुज्चन् द्रौणि: पुरस्तात् सहसाभ्यतिष्ठत्
arjuna uvāca saṁśaptakair yudhyamānasya me dadyau senāgrayāyī kuru-sainyeṣu rājan | āśīviṣābhān khagamān pramuñcan drauṇiḥ purastāt sahasābhyatiṣṭhat ||
ਅਰਜੁਨ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ—ਹੇ ਰਾਜਨ! ਅੱਜ ਜਦੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਸੰਸ਼ਪਤਕਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਯੁੱਧ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ, ਤਦ ਕੁਰੂ ਸੈਨਾ ਦਾ ਅਗਵਾਨ ਦ੍ਰੋਣਪੁੱਤਰ ਅਸ਼ਵੱਥਾਮਾ ਅਚਾਨਕ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਆ ਖੜ੍ਹਾ ਹੋਇਆ। ਵਿਸ਼ਧਰ ਸੱਪਾਂ ਵਰਗੇ ਭਿਆਨਕ ਬਾਣ ਛੱਡਦਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਉਹ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਸਿੱਧਾ ਟੱਕਰ ਦੇਣ ਲੱਗਾ।
