एवं प्रवृत्ते संग्रामे गजवाजिनरक्षये
evaṁ pravṛtte saṅgrāme gajavājinara-kṣaye
ਸੰਜਯ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ—ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਜਦੋਂ ਸੰਗ੍ਰਾਮ ਉਫ਼ਾਨ ਤੇ ਸੀ, ਤਦੋਂ ਤਬਾਹੀ ਦਾ ਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ ਛਾ ਗਿਆ; ਹਾਥੀ ਤੇ ਘੋੜੇ ਕੱਟੇ ਗਏ, ਮਨੁੱਖ ਵੀ ਨਾਸ ਹੋਏ—ਯੁੱਧ ਦਾ ਵੇਗ ਅੰਨ੍ਹੇ ਸੰਹਾਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਦਲ ਗਿਆ।
