कर्णपर्व — द्विचक्रिकी युद्धपरिस्थिति: धृष्टद्युम्न- द्रौणि-संघर्षः तथा अर्जुन-रक्षणम्
Chapter 42
सखिभावेन सौहार्दान्मित्रभावेन चैव हि । कारणैस्त्रिभिरेतैस्त्वं शल्य जीवसि साम्प्रतम्
sakhibhāvena sauhārdān mitrabhāvena caiva hi | kāraṇais tribhir etais tvaṃ śalya jīvasi sāmpratam ||
“ਹੇ ਸ਼ਲ੍ਯ! ਤੂੰ ਅਜੇ ਤੱਕ ਜੀਉਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ ਤਿੰਨ ਕਾਰਨਾਂ ਕਰਕੇ—ਪਹਿਲਾਂ, ਮੇਰਾ ਸਾਰਥੀ ਬਣ ਕੇ ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੀ ਸਖ਼ੀ-ਸਾਂਝ ਵਿੱਚ ਆ ਗਿਆ; ਦੂਜਾ, ਸੌਹਾਰਦ ਵਸ਼ ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਮਾਫ਼ ਕੀਤਾ; ਤੇ ਤੀਜਾ, ਦੁਰਯੋਧਨ ਦੇ ਮਨੋਰਥ ਦੀ ਸਿਧੀ ਦਾ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਮੈਂ ਮਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਤਿੰਨਾਂ ਕਾਰਨਾਂ ਕਰਕੇ ਹੀ ਤੂੰ ਹੁਣ ਤੱਕ ਬਚਿਆ ਹੈਂ।”
