Adhyāya 41 — Kṛṣṇa’s Battlefield Briefing and the Renewal of the Great Engagement
शरौघधिणं पार्थिवान् मज्जयन्तं वेलेव पार्थमिषुभि: संसहिष्ये । “कुन्तीकुमार अर्जुन अत्यन्त बलशाली, महान् अस्त्रधारी, समुद्रके समान दुर्लड्घ्य, भयंकर, बाणसमूहोंकी धारा बहानेवाले और बहुसंख्यक भूपालोंको डुबो देनेवाले हैं; तथापि मैं समुद्रको रोकनेवाली तटभूमिके समान अपने बाणोंद्वारा अर्जुनको बलपूर्वक रोकूँगा और उनका वेग सहन करूँगा
sañjaya uvāca | śaraughadhinaṃ pārthivān majjayantaṃ veleva pārtham iṣubhiḥ saṃsahiṣye | kuntīkumarārjuna atyanta-balaśālī mahān astradhārī samudra iva samaṃ durlanghyaḥ bhayaṅkaraḥ bāṇa-samūhānāṃ dhārāṃ vahann bahu-saṅkhyakān bhūpālān dubo deva | tathāpi ahaṃ samudraṃ rokamāṇā taṭabhūmi iva svabāṇaiḥ arjunaṃ balapūrvakaṃ rokeṣye tasya vegaṃ ca sahiṣye ||
ਸੰਜਯ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ— “ਪਾਰਥ ਦੇ ਤੀਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਚੰਡ ਵੇਗ ਨੂੰ ਮੈਂ ਸਹਿ ਲਵਾਂਗਾ। ਜਿਵੇਂ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਨੂੰ ਰੋਕਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਕੰਢਾ, ਤਿਵੇਂ ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਉਹ ਸ਼ਰ-ਵਰਖਾ ਝੱਲਾਂਗਾ ਜੋ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਰਾਜਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਡੁੱਬੋ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ। ਕੁੰਤੀਪੁੱਤਰ ਅਰਜੁਨ ਅਤਿ ਬਲਵਾਨ, ਮਹਾਂ ਅਸਤ੍ਰ-ਵਿਦ, ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਵਾਂਗ ਦੁਰਲੰਘ, ਭਿਆਨਕ ਅਤੇ ਨਿਰੰਤਰ ਤੀਰ-ਧਾਰਾ ਵਰਸਾਉਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ; ਤਾਂ ਵੀ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਤੀਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਬਲਪੂਰਵਕ ਰੋਕਾਂਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਵੇਗ ਝੱਲਾਂਗਾ।”
