Adhyāya 40 (Book 7, Droṇa-parva): Abhimanyu’s Rapid Advance and Battlefield Disruption
सौभद्रम भ्ययात् तूर्ण दृढमुद्यम्य कार्मुकम् । तत उच्चुक्रुशु: पार्थास्तिषां चानुचरा जना: । वादित्राणि च संजघ्नु: सौभद्रे चापि तुष्ठवु:,कर्णको संकटमें पड़ा देख उसका छोटा भाई सुदृढ़ धनुष हाथमें लेकर तुरंत ही सुभद्राकुमारका सामना करनेके लिये आ पहुँचा। उस समय कुन्तीके सभी पुत्र और उनके अनुगामी सैनिक जोर-जोरसे गरजने, बाजे बजाने और अभिमन्युकी भूरि-भूरि प्रशंसा करने लगे
Saubhadram abhyayāt tūrṇaṁ dṛḍham udyamya kārmukam | tata uccukruśuḥ pārthās tiṣāṁ cānucarā janāḥ | vāditrāṇi ca saṁjaghnuḥ saubhadre cāpi tuṣṭuvuḥ ||
ਕਰਨ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਕਟ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਿਆ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਛੋਟਾ ਭਰਾ ਮਜ਼ਬੂਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਧਨੁਸ਼ ਚੁੱਕ ਕੇ ਤੁਰੰਤ ਹੀ ਸੌਭਦ੍ਰ (ਅਭਿਮਨ੍ਯੂ) ਦਾ ਸਾਹਮਣਾ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਦੌੜ ਆਇਆ। ਤਦ ਪૃਥਾ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਪਾਂਡਵ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਅਨੁਚਰ ਸੈਨਿਕ ਉੱਚੀ ਆਵਾਜ਼ ਵਿੱਚ ਗੱਜ ਉਠੇ; ਵਾਜੇ ਵੱਜਣ ਲੱਗੇ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਸੌਭਦ੍ਰ ਦੀ ਬਹੁਤ-ਬਹੁਤ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ ਕਰਨ ਲੱਗੇ।
