संजय उवाच विरथो भीमसेनो वै कर्णवाक्ृशल्यपीडित: । अमर्षवशमापन्न: फाल्गुनं वाक्यमब्रवीत्,संजयने कहा--राजन्! रथहीन भीमसेन कर्णके वाग्बाणोंसे पीड़ित हो अमर्षके वशीभूत हो गये थे। वे अर्जुनसे इस प्रकार बोले--
sañjaya uvāca
viratho bhīmaseno vai karṇa-vāk-śalya-pīḍitaḥ |
amarṣa-vaśam āpannaḥ phālgunaṁ vākyam abravīt ||
ਸੰਜਯ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ—ਰਾਜਨ! ਰਥ-ਹੀਣ ਭੀਮਸੇਨ ਕਰਣ ਦੇ ਵਾਗ-ਬਾਣਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਪੀੜਤ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਅਮਰਸ਼ ਦੇ ਵੱਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਆ ਗਿਆ। ਉਸ ਨੇ ਫਾਲਗੁਣ (ਅਰਜੁਨ) ਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ—
