गौरुडव्यूह-रचना तथा अर्धचन्द्र-प्रत्यव्यूह
Garuḍa Array and the Ardhacandra Counter-Formation
अपतत् सहसा राजन् महोल्केव नभस्तलात्
apatat sahasā rājan maholkeva nabhastalāt | aṣṭabhir navabhir bhīṣmaḥ śaktiṃ ciccheda patribhiḥ ||
ਸੰਜਯ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ—ਹੇ ਰਾਜਨ! ਉਹ ਸ਼ਕਤੀ ਆਕਾਸ਼ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਡੇ ਉਲਕਾਪਿੰਡ ਵਾਂਗ ਅਚਾਨਕ ਡਿੱਗ ਪਈ। ਅੰਤਰਿਕਸ਼ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਲਪਟਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਘਿਰੀ ਹੋਈ ਉਹ ਦਹਕਦੀ ਸ਼ਕਤੀ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਵੀ ਤੇਰੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਦੇਵਵ੍ਰਤ (ਭੀਸ਼ਮ) ਰਤਾ ਭਰ ਨਾ ਡਿਗੇ; ਅੱਠ ਜਾਂ ਨੌਂ ਤੀਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਟੁਕੜੇ ਟੁਕੜੇ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
